Sam Reynolds

Sam joined Octopus UK in 2012 as Head of the Energy Investment team in London and founded Octopus Australia in 2018. After establishing Octopus Australia in 2018, Sam’s leadership has been instrumental in supporting the company’s growth under its three main pillars, (i) Energy Infrastructure, (ii) Technology and (iii) Change.

As CEO, Sam’s role is to lead the Octopus Australia business and drive its mission to accelerate the renewable energy transition and create meaningful Change.This Change incorporates team culture, community programs and the company’s indigenous joint venture Desert Springs Octopus, which Sam was at the forefront of creating with First Nations community partners in 2023.
Today Octopus Australia has offices in Melbourne and Sydney and has created multi-$billion fund management and energy development business.
Previously, Sam was head of the Octopus Energy investment team in London and has led over $5 billion of investment into Australian, UK and European renewable energy assets, structuring both primary and secondary transactions. Having started his career at Elders Group (Australia), Sam then joined the corporate lending team at ANZ Banking Group (Australia). Sam relocated to the UK and spent eight years working in corporate finance, specialising in the energy and technology sectors with Edinburgh and London-based Execution Noble Group. During this time Sam advised both public and private companies on a variety of transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, equity capital raising, corporate restructuring and flotations.
