Lachlan is based Macquarie’s Melbourne office and is head of Macquarie Asset Management’s Green Investment Group in ANZ.
Lachlan joined Macquarie in Sydney over 20 years ago. During his career at Macquarie, Lachlan has worked on advisory and investment transactions in 15 countries, based out of London, New York, Mexico City and Melbourne, and completed transactions over 5,800MW of renewable energy generation assets. During his time in the Americas, Lachlan was responsible for leading Macquarie Capital’s Latin American Infrastructure Team.
He is currently responsible for managing a portfolio of over 1500MW of renewables projects, and overseeing the ongoing growth and operations of GIG’s investments in Australia. In the renewables sector completed landmark renewable energy transactions, including Macquarie and RES’s 209MW Murra Warra II project, sale of John Laing’s interests in a 514MW Australian wind farm portfolio, formation of Synergy’s 256MW renewable energy joint venture Bright Energy Investments, Macquarie and RES’s 226 MW Murra Warra I wind farm, Macquarie’s 228MW Lal Lal wind farm and the $700m Avertas’ Waste to Energy Project. Lachlan has also led a number of international transactions in the renewables sector, including Santander’s formation of Cubico Sustainable Investments, a US$2 billion renewables and water venture with Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan and PSP Investments; Macquarie’s investment in a 171MW run-of-river hydro project in Choco, Colombia; and the development and financing of a US$1billion 396MW Mexican wind farm.
Lachlan holds a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia).
